December 1st,  2005

Thanksgiving has come and gone..  I enjoyed having a little time off to spend with family and friends..  The Atlanta Symphony performed an all Beethoven program, and I was fortunate enough to be in the audience..  It was wonderful to hear the Symphony again, and they did a fabulous job..  The gigs at Monterrey's have been alot of fun.  Lots of regulars have been coming out every week, and we always have a great party..  The League Of Decency played at Jake's Toadhouse last Saturday night..  The place was absolutely packed, and the dance floor was full the whole night..  Kevin Kinney  (Drivin' n Cryin'), stopped in and hung out with me for a while..  He had played to a sold out crowd at the Roxy the night before..  Everyone played well, and we had an absolute blast..  I've been stopping in to jam with some friends (Steve Taylor, Van Temple, Matt Slaughter, and Rick Austin) at the Tucker Honky Tonk on Lawrenceville Highway..  They play 5 nights a week, so if you are in the area you should stop in and check it out..  I am also getting some tunes together to record at Down In Deep Studios with Marty Kearns coming up in the near future..  It is always exciting to be in the recording studio..  Most of these tunes will be solo acoustic..  I also pulled out the Gibson Firebird this week to restring it, and get it ready to rock..  I haven't played this guitar since Johnny Winter signed it when I played with Heaven Davis, and we opened for him at the Roxy..  There is a pic of it in the photo gallery.. Check it out..
Thursday nights are still a great night to get out of the house and start the weekend early with me at Monterrey's Mexican Restaurant on Buford Highway in Doraville.  It is the home of my regular weekly solo acoustic gig, and it is always alot of fun..  Margarita specials, the best in Mexican cruisine (especially the fajita quesadillas), and cold beer is waiting for you..  The song list is wide open, and lately has included Beatles, Bob Dylan, America, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bread, Neil Diamond, Elvis, Poison, Green Day, Hoobastank, and Simon and Garfunkel..  It is always a blast mixing it all up, and there is never a dull moment..  Music starts around 7:30 - 8:00 p.m.  Come on down!!
The League Of Decency has a few corporate gigs in December, including one at Turner Field for Hank Aaron's 715 Club..  I am currently talking to George Hughley about some possible gigs opening for Peabo Bryson in the near future..  There is also communication between Bill Stewart (Gregg Allman Band, Capricorn Rhythm Section, Delbert Mcclinton), Chris Ortiz ( Motion, Knight Trane), and myself about doing a KNIGHT TRANE reunion, and booking some gigs in clubs close by, so everyone could come party with us..  Stay tuned to see what happens..
That is all of the news for now..  Check back often, and also look at the calendar to see where I am performing..  Hope to see ya soon..
