November 17, 2005

Greetings..  Lots of things are happening in the gigging world, and I've been fortunate to play some cool music with some happening musicians lately..  Had a great gig with the League Of Decency at Fuzzy's Place last weekend..  The place was packed, the band was cookin', and everyone had a fabulous time..  The last couple of Thursdays have been very busy at Monterrey's with the solo acoustic gig, and it is always a fun party..  I also played with the League at the Biltmore Hotel this past weekend for a wedding reception..  We all had a great time..  I am looking forward to seeing the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra this Friday for an all Beethoven program..  He is one of my favorite composers, and it is a very emotional experience to listen to his work..  I've always loved classical music..

Thursday nights are still a great night to get out of the house and start the weekend early with me at Monterrey's Mexican Restaurant on Buford Highway in Doraville..  It is the home of my regular weekly solo acoustic gig, and has really turned into one of the highlights of my week..  Margarita specials ($9.00 pitchers, $4.00 jumbos, $2.00 regulars), the best Mexican cruisine (especially the fajita quesadillas), and cold beer await you..  The song list can consist of anything you want to hear.. Lately is has included Poison, Bad Company, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, Bread, America, Emerson-Lake-and Palmer, Drivin' and Cryin', David Allen Coe, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Neil Diamond..  I always have fun mixing it up, so there is never a dull moment..  Music starts around 7:30 - 8:00 p.m.   Come on down.....

I will also be perfoming at Monterrey's on some special nights coming up..  Saturday, November 19th, and Wednesday, November 23rd for a pre Thanksgiving party..  I rarely play at Monterrey's on a weekend night, and when I have in the past it has always been a blast..  Wednesday, the 23rd, should be lots of fun since no one has to work the next day..  I hope you can make it out to at least one of the gigs..  A fun time is guaranteed for everyone..

The League Of Decency will be playing a rare club date at Jake's Toadhouse on Lawrenceville Highway inside 285 on Saturday, November 26th..  Hopefully everyone will be stir crazy from sitting around the house, and will come out to dance the turkey, dressing, and cranberry sauce off.. This is a great opportunity for you to hear a hip band with a great horn section, grooving on tunes by the Doors, Chicago, Beatles, Miles Davis, Louis Jordan, Glenn Miller, Spinners, Ohio Players, Brick, and others..  We had a fantastic time the last time we were at Jake's, and we are looking foward to this gig... Hope to see ya there..

I'll be playing several corporate gigs with the League in December, including one at Turner Field..  I have other things in the works, and will let you know as soon as they are confirmed..  Check back often, and look at the calendar to see where I am performing..  Have a great Thanksgiving, and I hope to see ya at Monterrey's, Jake's, or both...
Stay tuned.....
