October 20, 2005

Thanks to everyone who came out and partied with the League Of Decency at Jake's Toadhouse on Friday, October 14th..  Everyone in the band played their asses off, and there was alot of great music that night..  We will probably be back at Jake's in the near future..  Saturday night was also lots of fun with the League at Paris on Ponce, which is a cool room..  Sunday night was time for R & B music with George Hughley and the Colored Boyz at Leisures..  It was also the first night that George Calhoon played with us, since Bill Stewart left to play a house gig in Tucker..  George is a great drummer, and we both have played with George Hughley over the years, so he fit right in..  I'm looking forward to many more gigs with him over the years..

Thursday nights are still party nights at Monterrey's Mexican Restaurant on Buford Highway in Doraville..  I have been playing solo acoustic guitar there on Thursdays for well over a year, and it never gets old..  Home of the best margaritas around, and some of the tastiest Mexican food to be had, anywhere..  The song list is always wide open, and can range from Green Day, to Frank Sinatra..  Lately it has included songs by Bread, America, Willie Nelson, Hoobastank, Poison, Bad Company, Elvis, Neil Diamond, Drivin' and Cryin', and David Allen Coe..  We have a great party there every week, so it is a great way to start the weekend early..  Music starts around 7:45 p.m..

Sunday nights have become a great way to close the weekend with some great Blues, Soul, and R & B music with George Hughley and the Colored Boyz at Leisures, which is located in the Marshall's Shopping Center at the corner of North Hairston and Memorial Drive near Stone Mountain..  George is a wonderful entertainer, and a great singer..  The band also features Joe Tucker on bass, and George Calhoon on drums..  We play lots of feel good music, that I grew up listening to..  Some of the groups we cover are the Spinners, Chilites, Temptations, Cameo, Commodores, Ojays, Tyrone Davis, Bobby Bland, Brooke Benton, and George Benson..  I always have a great time playing with these guys, and I look forward to many more gigs with them..  George's new c.d. is being played all over the world, and getting rave reviews..  Looks like I'll be performing with him all over the place very soon..  Leisures is a very nice club, and you should check it out..  We start at 8:00 p.m., and play till midnight..

Some future gigs I have coming up are as follows:  Saturday, October 22nd with the League Of Decency for the Atlanta Womens Club..  Saturday, October 29th, I will be performing solo acoustic for the Doraville Police Department Appreciation Day..  Later that evening, I will be with MOTION at a Halloween Party in Dacula at 3570 Jim Moore Road..  I can't wait to rock with MOTION again, and it will be even more fun on Halloween!!  You can visit the Motion website at www.motionrocks.com ..  I have other gigs coming up in November, and I'll talk about those later...   Stay tuned.....
