September 7, 2005

Greetings..  The temperature is starting to cool down a little, and it couldn't happen fast enough for me..  I am ready for Fall..  Labor Day was alot of fun, playing with George Hughley and the Colored Boyz at a private party in Conyers..  The band sounds great, and George is one of the best singers and entertainers around..  The band also features Joe Tucker on Bass, and Bill Stewart (Gregg Allman Band), on Drums.  We will be performing every Sunday night at Leisures, which is located at the corner of North Hairston and Memorial Drive.  I have played several gigs through the years with George, and have played in many different projects with Bill and Joe..  It is very exciting to be playing r & b, and soul music with some of the best players around..  I've always loved that style of music, and was raised on Spinners, Chi-lites, Ojays, Temptations, and all of the Motown and Philadelphia Gamble & Huff music..  What a Blast!!  If you want to get a fix of blues and soul, come out on a Sunday to hear us...  I will insert a picture of us at the end of this column..
Thursday nights are still party night at Monterrey's Mexican Restaurant on Buford Highway in Doraville..  It is the home of my regular solo acoustic gig, and it is always a great party every week..Monterrey's has some of the best food around, and superb margaritas.  The song list is wide open, and lately has included Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, America, Bread, Green Day, Train, Neil Diamond, Willie Nelson, Bad Company, and just about anything else you can name..  I love to mix it up..  Come out on Thurdays and start the weekend early with some fajitas, cervezas, and margaritas..  Music starts around 7:30 - 8:00 p.m.

     I will be performing with
Heaven Davis at the Yellow Daisy Festival at Stone Mountain Park on Friday afternoon, September 9th.  We are slated to play at 4:30 p.m. till 6:00 p.m.  Heaven is a wonderful entertainer and a great singer..  She is supporting her new c.d., "Steamy", and just finished a tour of Europe..  The c.d. is being played all over the country, and it will be a pleasure to perform with her again..  You can find out more details by clicking on , and going to the Yellow Daisy Festival..  You can also visit Heaven's website at
The League of Decency will be performing at A Taste Of Atlanta on Friday, September 23rd.  This even is open to the public, and a rare opportunity to catch some bad ass horn players..  We play lots of jazz, swing, pop, and dance music to please the masses..  The event will be held at Lenox Square near Buckhead..  Check out the website at
I have several corporate gigs coming up with the League, in town, and out of town.  I also have some gigs with Ron Kimble in October, and some solo acoustic gigs toward the end of October.  I have been contacted by some other bands, and I am trying to sort out a schedule where I can play with some other bands, here and there..  I hope to see you at Monterrey's on Thursdays, or at Leisures on Sunday's, because those gigs will be happening every week..  That is all of the news for now... Stay tuned....
