February 20th, 2007
Greetings..  Things have been really busy lately, and I have been playing a lot of gigs with many different bands..  I have worked several corporate gigs with the League Of Decency..  We have played parties in Roswell, Buckhead, and a huge Mardi Gras party in the Egyptian Ballroom at the Fox Theatre..  We will be at the Capital City club for a couple of corporate functions in next two months, and will perform at Callonwalde on St. Patrick's Day..  I also worked in a rock trio format with Tommy Dean and Pat Andrews at a function in Toccoa, which was a very interesting gig..  I have played many gigs with the Ron Kimble Band over the past few weeks, working at Hank and Jerry's, Glenda's Bar and Grill, and have played with Ron as an acoustic duo at Uncle Woody's on a few Sunday nights.. Anne Scott has been sitting in with us and doing a great job singing some tunes..  You can see her at Hank and Jerry's Tavern every Wednesday and Thursday night.. We have gigs coming up at Mickey D's, Will Henry's, and Sportsline in the near future..  The solo acoustic gigs have been great at Monterrey's every Thursday night, and at Classic Pizza on a few Friday nights..  One of my guitar students, Brooke Serrano, performed with me at Classic Pizza on February 9th, and brought the house down!!  She is a very talented singer and guitarist..  It was a lot of fun, and I look forward to the next time we can perform together..  MOTION started auditions for a new lead vocalist this month at Southern Tracks studio..  It is always fun being in Southern Tracks, and Greg (Fernie) is always a blast to work with..  It can be a little intimidating working in the same place where Bruce Springsteen and many others work, but it is always an interesting experience..  On a sad note, the owner of Southern Tracks, Mike Clark, passed away a few weeks ago..  He was an Atlanta icon, and quite a gentleman..  He will be sorely missed by the Atlanta music community, family, and friends.. MOTION hopes to have a new lead singer very soon, and get back to doing what we do best..  ROCK!!  The band will be back, and will be better than ever..  Heaven Davis is recording the follow up album to her critically acclaimed "STEAMY", at Down in Deep Studios with Marty Kearns ..  I am sure I will be playing some gigs with her when the record is finished..  Now, on to other news..
Thursday nights are still a great way to start the weekend early at Monterrey's Mexican Restaurant on Buford Highway in Doraville..  It is the home of my regular, solo, acoustic gig and is always a lot of fun..  Margarita specials, great Mexican cuisine, and cold beer in frosty mugs await you..  I am constantly updating the song list, and you will hear just about anything you want to..  The food is great and the service is outstanding..  It is what keeps the regulars coming back every week..  Music starts at 7:45 p.m..  Come on down!!
I am performing every Sunday night as part of an acoustic duo with Ron Kimble at Hank and Jerry's Tavern in Conyers..  Between the two of us, we know literally thousands of songs, so there is never a dull moment when we make music together..  I really like the way the duo sounds, and the harmony is excellent on tunes by the Beatles, and Simon and Garfunkel..  It is a great way to cap off the weekend, after the race, listening to your favorite tunes with a cold beverage..  The music starts at 8:00 p.m., and we will play till 11:00 p.m..  See ya there!!
