March 20, 2013

Greetings. It has been a long time since I updated my news, so here is the latest. I am currently teaching at All Star Music in Loganville. I have some great students and it is fun to watch them progress in their musical endeavors. It doesn't seem possible, but I am in my 24th year of teaching. Time certainly flies. I have started performing at some nursing homes, rehab centers, retirement communities, and assisted living facilities. I enjoy doing this, and it is always a blessing to see the old folks enjoy songs from their childhood days, and watch them sing along and clap to the music. You will never have a more appreciative audience. I've also been doing some duo gigs with Brooke Serrano. She is a very talented singer, songwriter, guitarist and is a pleasure to work with. She is a former student, and can really play and sing. Hopefully we will be able to do a lot more gigs together in the future. I play mostly solo gigs right now, with the occasional band gig. With the economy being what it is, it has been easier for me to get work doing solo gigs. I miss playing off other musicians in a band setting. It is hard to replace that kind of groove. There are advantages in playing solo gigs, though. I don't have to worry about anyone else, but on the other hand, if anything goes wrong, it is my fault. It can be a double edged sword. Here is a list of my regular gigs:

Wednesday nights I perform at El Ranchero in downtown Loganville. I've been doing this gig for over 6 months, and it is always a lot of fun. They have margarita specials for the ladies, all night long. Beer specials for everyone. It is an early gig, starting at 6:00 p.m..

Thursday nights I perform at Monterrey Mexican Restaurant, located at 5406 Buford Hwy., in Doraville. This marks my 10th year of doing this gig, and it never gets old. We always have a great time every Thursday night, and I have several regulars who are there every week. Musicians, politicians, policemen, families, couples, singles, all show up for the GREAT margaritas and eclectic music. Monterey's is the place to be on Thursday nights. Mark your calendars to be there..

Friday and Saturday nights are spent at a number of places. I normally play every other Friday, and every other Saturday at Fernando's Mexican Restaurant in Dacula. Jerry and Judy Pilet are the owners, and they serve wonderful drinks and fabulous food. It has a great atmosphere, and there are always lots of friends there. I also perform on some Fridays at Classic Pizza in Loganville, or with the Ron Kimble band. I also have the occasional private party, or wedding reception. You can always check my calendar on this web site to see where I am performing. It is updated regularly.

I am blessed to be able to play the amount of gigs that I do, and am lucky to be one of the hardest working musicians in town. It is also a great joy to be able to teach music.. I am very fortunate to have friends and fans that support live music, and it is something that I never take for granted.. I appreciate all of the support I have had through the years.. It certainly makes it all worth while.. God bless each and everyone of you, and I hope to see you soon!!
